Well collapses in Kano town, claims life, injures two

A well has collapsed in Gargajiga town, Minjibir Local Government Area, Kano State, claiming the life of one person, while two others were rescued.

The incident occurred on Thursday and was reported to the Kano State Fire Service by one Bashir Namadi.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday evening by the service’s spokesperson, ACFO Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi.

According to the statement, the collapse happened during re-digging and repair work on the well.

“Three people were involved: one inside the well and two outside. The sides of the well gave way, causing it to collapse and burying all three individuals,” the statement read.

The Fire Service emergency rescue team arrived at the scene at around 12:20 PM.

“They successfully rescued two individuals alive, but unfortunately, one person, identified as Yusuf Nadabo, aged 50, was recovered unconscious and later pronounced dead,” the statement confirmed.

All victims have been handed over to the ward head of Gargajiga town for further arrangements.
